Its is a way made of slidings of language and experience. In her work, with the realization of jewels, sculptures and interior design, the dimension spaces has been inquired trying to render represented factors like the depth and the movement. “In my job like designer of jewels for the art galleries and design, I use methods and processes of planning action, that allow to me the realization of pieces only or limited editions. Above all, I try to conjugate the technology and the planning of design to the goldsmith’s art, using every time the more appropriated techniques, from the lost wax to the construction, from the chemical shearing of the metals to the cuts laser, and to the new technologies, without never to penalize the features functionals of the traditional jewellery". The body is always an integral part of the plan, with its fragility and ergonomic imperfections, its geometries anatomical and the complexity of the articulations. The jewels must be able to be wear comfortably and, at the same time, to be donating. Her jewels are characterized from the search of geometric and rigorous forms.
She rarely use precious stones. “Instead I look for the light and color within the folds, the curves and the twists of the forms; within the gold and burnishing, spirals of light and dark, natural contrasts existing already in the forms and the materials.”
The last jewels, because of these characteristics have been reported by ADI Index 2010: the Bracelet Diamond, a tribute to Gio Ponti, in silver and gold, in three limited editions. The bracelet uses the shearing chemistry of the metal and the laser welding, but the first cuff was made by hand despite the complexity of the piece, thanks to 3D design that allowed an embodiment precise and accurate. And thanks to technology, it was possible, using the same design file, the same bracelet in titanium, which is very interesting and yet to be exploited in jewelery, given the lightness and the ability to give the beautiful colored patinas otherwise impossible. The Bracelet was presented in June 2010 at the Triennale Museum in Milan at the exhibition "Titans precious."
And it is after this last show that the jewels of Rosalba Balsamo were selected by Andrea Branzi and the Triennale Museum in Milan, and included in the exhibition New Italian Design 2.0, a kind of nation-wide census of the most innovative and valuable Italian designers. The exhibition, which will be traveling for a few years after the inauguration of the Museum of the Triennale in Milan in December 2012, was to Santralistanbul Museum in Istanbul, then landed in July 2012 in Beijing, at the Beijing Industrial Design Center, and 20 September 2012 will be at the National Taiwan Craft Research and Developement Institute in Nantou. From february to may 2013 at the Museum Alhondiga of Bilbao and from june to august 2013 at the Cannery Galleries, Academy of Art University di San Francisco. Recently, in October 2014 at the Waterfront Lookout to Cape Town , from October to November 2015 at Gwangju Design Biennale , South Korea.
Moreover she has collaborated to the realization of scenographs and jewels for the theatre and the cinema.
